Introduction

Dear Readers,

Night Owl here with a new blog named Bullied No More.

Why a new blog might you ask?  I mean, I have two blogs already:

The first one is Night Owl 1967 - this blog includes *most* of my daily musings, soapbox, what is going on in my own life, a joke of the week and a peeve of the week.  With the exception of family and close friends (which I have invited to join me), I have kept this blog private to the rest of the world.  I don't wish to have people know what is going on every minute of every day.

The second one is End Metallophobia - It is my mission and goal to stamp out alot of the misunderstandings, 'urban myths', and moral panic surrounding the heavy metal scene, it's music and it's people.  While I know that not all musicians, bands, or fans themselves are necessarily blameless, the unfortunate consequence is that many peaceful, non-violent, law-abiding, sober, kind, caring, motivated, intelligent, humourous or egalitarian metal heads out there are tarred with the same brush, as those whose intentions aren't so noble.

Or even if there are metal heads out there who are violent, take drugs, sleep around or worship Satan (or anything else that said about these people), it doesn't mean that these individuals also have their good points alongside their faults.  Similar situations also occurr with goths, punks, skinheads, skaters, and emo kids.

And, in this blog, I have also written on issues which are not entirely related to heavy metal and its related genres; however, because most of these issues are related to young people (and can sometimes sometimes affect heavy metal fans), I include them.

And one of these issues is bullying - a problem which takes on many forms.  Not only school bullying, but many other types of bullying like child abuse, rape, domestic abuse, sexual harassment, street harassment, racial villification, disability discrimination, workplace harassment and many other forms.

And while many heavy metal fans may well experience bullying, harassment and discrimination in various forms (which is the reason why I started a blog called End Metallophobia), it is important to note that not all people who get bullied, harassed or discriminated against are metal heads; and there are actually some metal heads who enjoy the 'luxury' of living their lives 'harassment free' (ie they don't get bullied or abused, or if they do, it probably doesn't affect them hugely).

Therefore, this blog is intended for anyone who is being (or has been) bullied, or for anyone who knows someone else who has experienced bullying at any time of their life.

So, please take the time out and join me on my quest to stamp out bullying and its related problems.

cheers,
Night Owl
