Part 2 of my rant: Imagine my shock!!!
You might be asking whether or not I should be shocked by what happened to Alex Jones, Paul Joseph Watson and the rest of the Info-wars crew?
The answer to this is, 'Not really'. Here's why:
Firstly, not so long ago (in fact, I think it may be roughly three to four weeks ago), I got barred from Facebook. The reason was that I inadvertently offended someone by calling Trans gendered people 'trannies'. It was in relation to whether or not 'transgenderism' was a civil right and that they should be able to get sex changes for free, courtesy of the government.
That is not to say that the distress someone may feel about the sex they were born with isn't real: gender dysphoria is a very serious problem, just as body dysmorphic disorder is. I liken the two to each other. And the sufferers of either disorder need understanding, and this includes therapy.
Hence, surgery is not necessarily the answer.
Just like someone who may have been mocked for having a big nose might wish to undergo rhinoplasty, someone suffering from gender dysphoria might have deep seated issues about the gender that they were born with. It may be as serious as sexual assault or parental abuse, or it may be as innocuous as a sibling of the opposite sex getting more attention than the afflicted child.
But, until someone (be it the parents, a doctor or therapist) gets to the bottom of it, then we don't know.
Anyway, I digress - back to the issue at hand, Facebook and Info-wars.
The second reason why I think the 'thought police' are out in force is that a week or so after being barred, my Internet connection had slowed down; and this has continued for the last few weeks despite being ponied up with my ISP.
Too much of a coincidence if you ask me.
I don't suppose anyone would mind if I complain when someone posts something I don't like. Let's see if they like the shoes being on the other foot. Not very nice, is it?
No cheers
