Apparently, the town has banned people from wearing pants that hang below the waistline. The article states that:
Violators will pay $25 fine for the first offence, $50 for the second, and $100 for every one thereafter. Is the ban a good or bad idea?
Personally, I am in favour of the ban and I wish someone would ban this sort of thing here in Sydney (or anywhere in Australia) to be honest.
Why, may you ask? Of course I cannot dictate to people what they can (or cannot) wear, and of course, I don't like people telling me how I should (or shouldn't) dress.
But it's not the police (or anyone else in a position of *legitimate* authority) but the thugs that have been overrunning the streets for the last few decades now - the ones who are *offended* when I am wearing a heavy metal t-shirt or all black.
What are they? The fashion police? You'd hope they would be more attractively and/or fashionably dressed themselves, or better looking (for that matter). But obviously not - the pants hanging down and revealing underwear, or worse, is the worst fashion 'faux-pas' to ever hit the streets since the early 90's. I have seen my share of crappy fashions, but this really takes the cake!!!
I mean, if I wanted to see a 'plumber's crack', I would hire a plumber :P
And not to mention the hideous baseball caps and cheap-and-nasty tops they wear with them (it doesn't matter how much money they spend on their fashion, the people who wear them still look 'cheap' - and nasty too) :/
I say, an eye for eye, tooth for tooth - we should make these worthless grubs/thugs see for themselves what it is like for us to be hassled when we go about our daily lives, and how they make a 'joke' out of the rights and freedoms others had to work and fight for :S
(no) cheers,
Night Owl
An example of what the rest of the general public has to look at (and these types of people - if you can call them that - expect others to 'respect' them) :S |

What is your own take on this situation? How do you rise above the rot?
