Mom Demands To Know Why No One Comes To 9-Year-Old’s Birthday, Then Posts The Reason On Facebook
Someone please tell me how this can be right?
Gerald Hamilton of Indiana was so excited to celebrate his ninth birthday. He even sent out 30 invitations to his classmates — but not one person showed up.
Gerald’s grandmother, Amelia, was heartbroken and furious on behalf of her kindhearted grandson.
As a result of multiple skull expansion surgeries, Gerald is slower at learning than his peers and experiences developmental delays. Sadly, Amelia was about to learn that While Gerald’s family tells him his differences makes him unique, his classmates and their families aren’t as accepting.
The most devastating moment came when Gerald’s mom suggested they cut the cake — but Gerald asked to wait a little longer. He was still hopeful that at least one person would show.
But no one came. Instead, as many family members as possible arrived at the house to throw him his birthday party and show their support.
Two days later, Amelia took to Facebook to vent her frustrations. She also shared the sad reason other parents gave for their children’s absences.
“When my daughter called the 12 parents to find out what was going on. Here is their response. ‘My child can’t play with yours he is just too different.’ How sad he is 9 he just wants to have friends. So no one came, no cards, no presents. So, it is my mission to have as many cards as I can mailed to my little guy. You can send them to me and I’ll make sure he gets them….this breaks my heart.”
Watch the video below to see how the world responded to Amelia’s Facebook plea, and please SHARE this with your friends on Facebook.
- Like most other children with disabilities, this little man deserves as much of a chance as other children: Not only do I say shame on the children not attending the party they were so cordially invited to; even more so, shame on the parents for not letting the children go because he was 'too different'.
- And furthermore, where are all the SJW's and 'leftists' on this issue because no child should ever have to go through this: after all, they are the ones who bang on about equality and/or inequality, but what are they doing about something like this? It just breaks my 💔💓 😢
