I can see the truth in this :)
I also live in a predominantly 'white' and/or middle class neighbourhood now - but I have lived in more 'ethnically diverse' neighbourhoods in the past (e.g. Blacktown, Kogarah, Rockdale) and I have experienced both sides of multiculturalism as I knew it here in Australia.
However, the people who have accused me of 'racism' the most in the past are not those of NESB's or of colour, but are the 'white liberals' this man has spoken of - the ones who have lived in the more upmarket suburbs of Sydney (or any other city here in Australia). They have good jobs, they don't have to deal with difficult co-workers, supervisors and/or customers of different racial (or other) backgrounds/interests/sexual orientations/genders, and they can afford to be 'snobs'.
But I am a 'snob' or racist/homophobe/Islamophobe etc if I dare stand up for myself or criticise something I see that I don't like!!!
And yet, if I were being abused, it is those same elites who will stand *idly* by and do nothing!!!
So yes, as 'boring' as his speeches may sound, I can acutally see the validity :)
cheers,
Night Owl
